This place is so good! The fried chicken cutlet ( I believe is called the Crisp) is my fave! The rice is cooked in a broth that makes the whole dish chefs kiss! We also love the chicken curry! This is a must try!!

Quick service, great portions, reasonable price, and delicious food that my picky 9 year old loves is a win! Our go to is the take two which I definitely recommend. When you don't want to feel guilty for eating only fried, the lean meat is the perfect balance. The fried chicken stays crispy even when you get it to go and you still get to enjoy it by the time you're home. It's crispy and not overly oily how most fried chickens are made. I've also tried their Ga pao gai and it was very flavorful. This place is conveniently located right off 5 so if you're ever driving by and want some fast and delicious food, it's a must try!

I've been wanting to try Gai n Rice for a long time and when I was finally able to make it to Land Park, they unfortunately closed due to a fire! I'm so glad they have reopened in EG. I was conveniently in the area and able to finally give them a go. Really delicious poached chicken/khao mun gai! I was very happy with their preparation and flavor. I like how the skin is on this compared to another place that I frequently buy from. The consommé was amazingly flavorful and the accompanying sauce was one of my favorites. I wish it was a bigger container! For the fried "crizp" style, it was very good but a little too greasy for my preferences. My mom ordered their curry noodles and was not as enthusiastic about it. Service was very friendly and the dining areas were tidy and pleasantly decorated. I ordered to-go and during my wait they let me use their clean bathroom. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying their other menu items like the apps and noodle dishes so I can judge for myself without listening to my mom complain.

The skinny: Spicy, flavorful value High chairs and decent hospitality The lengthy: After being treated here previously, we decided to eat out before heading to a fellowship gathering. The wife wanted noodles, i like the classic chicken sauce (garlicky & spicy!). The place was empty on a Thursday at 5pm. For the first 20 minutes, i saw maybe 4 parties grab online/phone takeout orders and go. [High chair update: They have 2 high chairs, standard wooden type. Straps are lacking, though.] Classic Gai 'N Rice: lean chicken balanced with some skin hit a chewy sweet spot. Rice and sauce and cucumbers clean tasting. Curry Noodle Gai: spicy and sweet. Lots of extra curry sauce to complement the extra rice from other dishes. No veggies, though (onions don't count). Chicken and Rice Soup: solid but very simple. Baby carrots a good idea but not the nicest presentation. Room for improvement: - larger signage for waste management: my daughter could not find a trash bin for her water cup and i did not see the sign by the water jug. - more veggies: because colon health. Overall: Spent around $55 for three dishes, to feed 2 adults, 2 kids (5&2). Not bad. Decent chance of returning for the classic chicken and sauce.

Gai 'N Rice in Elk Grove is a delightful spot for anyone who loves authentic Asian food, particularly Thai-inspired dishes with a modern twist. The restaurant offers a simple but flavorful menu, with the star of the show being their signature "Gai" (Thai for chicken) dishes served with fragrant jasmine We got the curry noodle gai and the classic. Both were full of flavor and the chicken was cooked to perfection. One of their other highlights is their crispy chicken - perfectly fried with a light, crunchy exterior and juicy, tender meat inside. Paired with their savory sauces, it's a comforting meal that feels both homey and indulgent. If you're in the Elk Grove area and craving comfort food with bold flavors, Gai 'N Rice is a fantastic option. The portion sizes are generous, prices are reasonable, and the flavors will leave you wanting to come back for more.

Gai 'N Rice has been our go-to Hainese chicken (poached and boneless) restaurant for over 5 years, and let me tell you this place is all about consistency! We are so glad they moved from Sacramento (Freeport Blvd) to the current location since '23; now only a 3 minute drive from my house vs. 15! My fam and I usually order the Classic (white & dark meat) and the take 2 (1/2 crispy/half white) that comes with house chicken broth with a few floating parsley leaves and a side of killer brownish chili sauce. We are never disappointed with their food nor service, especially when served by Sonia the owner. Always smiling, genuine and asking about the fam. The real reason for this review is to brief you on their catering trays. We had a friend bring over trays covered in foil, not knowing what the contents were since we were being surprised for lunch. Holy moly when we saw the sticker "gai 'n rice", we were stoked! We never knew they offered party trays! Once we slowly opened each tray, our smiles grew wider. Generous portions of the chicken besides a mountain of broccoli florets, pan of their jasmine fragranced rice, a tub of the bomb chili sauce and 6 side bowls of the soup. The presentation of the food and the quality was amazing, even in bulk! Great job Sonia and crew, this will definitely be a party tray for potlucks for the upcoming Holidays!!

Why did I just recently decided to try this place out? No idea but boy, I have been missing out! Came here for early dinner since they closed at 7pm. Order at the counter, they will give you a number and you seat yourself. They will bring food to your table. Take 2: Came with lean and crispy chicken. Crispy chicken was perfectly fried, not overly oily. Lean chicken was a bit too lean and overcooked for me but at least that makes the dish a bit healthier :D. Sauces came with the rice were good. Soup was good and flavorful as well. Sweet taro puff: Came with 2. Puff was good size. Just the right amount of sweetness. Taro was super soft. It was really good but definitely can be a filler. Corn & corn wonton: Kinda plain. It reminded me of regular cream cheese wonton so nothing too special. Mango sticky rice: Needed a bit more sauce. But overall, a satisfying item. Food took about 20ish mins to come out. Which was understandable since they had a lot of to-go orders and had to cater to other dine in customers as well. Self service water station for dine in customers. Staffs were nice and friendly.

Gai 'N Rice has been on my list to try for too long! I've had many people share great experiences with me and have read even more on Yelp. I was in the area and was able to stop by to grab some take out. The parking lot is a bit weird depending on which direction you're coming from, but there are plenty of spots available. The restaurant is medium sized and has seating if you'd like to dine in. The team there greeted me right away and I wanted to order everything! I ended up ordering the Curry Noodle Gai ($14.95), the Charming Dumpling ($8.95), the cheese corn pocket ($7.95) and a Thai Iced Tea ($5.25). I took a seat at one of the tables and they brought out my drink right away and the food came out not too long afterward. The restaurant is really cute and I'll definitely try to dine in some time with friends. I ended up taking my order home, which is about 25-30 minutes away and everything was still warm and the cheese corn pockets were still nice and crispy. I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered them, but they were a great appetizer, creamy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The Curry Noodle Gai was also delicious, the curry flavor was great with the noodles and chicken. The Charming Dumpling had the same curry sauce on them and the combination with the pork dumplings was very tasty. I'm excited to try more from their menu in the future.
